Customer Service Week Celebrated by Hospitals, Clinics and Medical Practices
Healthcare providers from across the globe are celebrating Customer Service Week this week.
(Boonton, NJ, October 4, 2011) — Customer Service Week will be celebrated in every state in the union plus 42 countries around the world during the first week in October.
According to the event organizers, CSWeek.com, the annual event, recognizes the importance of customer service and honors frontline service professionals across all industries.
Healthcare professionals have embraced Customer Service Week as an umbrella under which to celebrate the contributions of all clinical and non-clinical staff, to increase morale and motivation and to create a unified focus on customer/patient service.
Two very different hospitals focused their celebrations on staff recognition:
At Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming, employees were asked to nominate a coworker that they would like to see recognized for
providing exemplary customer service. The nominations were printed and displayed in the hospital to serve as a commendation and reminder of the importance of customer service.
In London, North Middlesex University Hospital also celebrates Customer Service Week. Here, the goal is to raise awareness of the vital role that customer service plays within a hospital.
"Staff who come into daily contact with patients act as ambassadors for the hospital. The way patients are greeted, the telephone manner used, even smiling can make a difference to their experience", said Alan Makepeace, learning programs coordinator. "We wanted to highlight
through this week how simple efforts can make a difference to how patients feel about the care they receive."
In order to honor good customer service by staff, e-cards were provided to encourage staff to thank each other for their hard work and good customer service. Departments were decorated and patients were asked to provide feedback, which is used to improve staff and patient experiences.
